Top 10 Books that i've read and loved this year
Mi-a fost super greu sa aleg din cele 122 de carti pe care le-am citit anul acesta. Dar... pana la urma, asa arata topul meu. Sper ca ati avut un an plin de impliniri pe toate nivelurile, dar mai ales pe cel al cititului. Va doresc un an mai bogat de cel care a trecut, sanatate, fericire pentru ca o meritati din plin, si cat mai multe carti posibile. Cel putin 2 tone!

Prentiss A cramp stabbing my ribs brought me back to the Here and Now. I was late, and last day or not, Dr. Green would fuss. “My assistants must be punctual,” he’d say. “It’s difficult being the only vet in a farming community.” I exhaled slowly as a bead of sweat tickled a path down the middle of my back, and I tried to keep the dirt out of my Keds. Back when the 911 service came through, most of these roads got numbers or real names besides “Shortcut to the Creek” or “Road Where the Broke-down House Used to Be.” But there were still a few like this one, “Old School Road,” that you only knew what to do with if you grew up in our little town of less than a thousand people. It didn’t matter, though. Strangers never stopped in Dabb Creek. That should’ve been my first warning. My opinion:
Desi am inceput cartea asta la recomandarea
cuiva, care adora astfel de carti la fel ca mine, dupa primele 30 de pagini nu
mi-a placut deloc. Insa, dupa ce am patruns mai mult in actiunea, am adorat-o
pur si simplu. Nu credeam ca, la inceputul carti, o s-o iubesc asa de tare si
ca o sa ma struncine in asemenea hal.
Ador astfel de carti, care spun o mica
particica din istorie si o imbina cu fictiunea. Si mai ales despre o istorie de
care eu nu prea stiam asa de multe. Lituania. Niciodata nu m-am gandit la tara
asta. Nu consider nimic exotic la ea sau plina de istorie asa ca nu mi-a atras
atentia.
Ei, dar tara asta e mai plina de istorie
decat altele. Nu am fost o fana a ei, dar cu siguranta dupa acesta carte am
devenit una.
Imi place modul povesti si cum decurge
acesta, mai ales ca nu trece de la un personaj la altul, ci ramane focalizat pe
cel de la inceput. Ador ca mi-a satisfacut acea sete pe care o am in privinta
personajelor, sa tiu totul despre ele, dar in acelasi timp sa nu stiu. Cred ca
aceste carti sunt perfecte pentru orice cititor, mai curios sau mai putin
curios.
Modul autoarei de a scrie acasta carte e
absolut magnific. E ca si cum ti s-ar adresa tie, cititorului. Iti aduce o mica
particica din istoria frumoasa si plina de nefericiri, devotament, rautate si
cruzime. Iar prin toate acesta o sa descoperi minunata gandire a lituanianului.
Ca e necesar sa intorci si celalalt obraz pentru a putea trai. Ceea ce eu, daca
traiam in acele zile, cu temperemanetul meu, muream in secunda 2.
Oricum, cartea asta chiar de invata ceva,
atat despre omenire, cat si despre istorie. Si ma bucur ca exista o carte care
sa aduca la suprafata rautatea de care au dat dovada unii.
Merita cumparata, citita si recitita de 100
de ori. Credeti-ma nu o sa va mai saturati de ea. Si nu uitati, raspandi-ti
cele citite. Lumea are dreptul sa stie. TREBUIE SA STIE!

Mariska If you asked where this sudden surge of bravery came from, I’d have to be honest. I had no fucking idea. Stuart rode into the barn looking like sex on two legs… very tired sex on two legs, but sex on two legs all the same, and I made up my mind. After the way he kissed me yesterday, I didn’t care what type of bullshit line he tried to spin, Stuart Knight was in the same space as me. He was fighting hard, but he wanted this. Now I was in his bedroom ordering him around, and he was actually allowing it. Humoring me, more like it. Not for one minute was I suffering from the delusion that this man took orders from anyone. Still, for whatever reason, exhaustion or simple curiosity, he let me take the lead. Once his shirt was off, I couldn’t hide the hitch in my breath at the site of his lined torso. Ridges crossed his abdomen, lines stretched across his broad shoulders and down his arms. He lay on his stomach across the mattress, and it was all I could do not to run my tongue over every inch of his beautiful body. Instead, I quickly took off my boots, and for increased mobility (yes, that was my excuse), I removed my denim shorts. Kneading a little harder, I knew I had to get lower, down into the pelvic area to give him relief. “Do you mind if I remove your boxers?” My voice was breathless and trembling. Those snug, dark briefs didn’t hide much, but I knew once I saw that ass, I’d be a goner. “No.” One word. He’d sounded almost as cautious as me when he said it. Closing my eyes, I shook myself. Now was the time. This was my man. If I was going to make it happen, if I was going to make any of this make sense, from the day I left Bayville to this moment, I had to go for it. 1) To trigger my inspiration, I binge on Netflix. I pick shows from any genre, and study the dialog and the plot. I also watch video game walkthroughs on YouTube. It's a great help to develop my characters.
2) I can't remember the last time I've had a bad case of writer's block. Plotting helps eliminate that issue.
3) My biggest pet peeves: misspellings, grammatical errors, and inconsistent formatting.
4) Julie Jones has named her car "Bubble", and when she swears, she says things like "shizzle", "shizzle nizzle" or "crapola in a peanut butter jar".
5) The original title for the first draft of the story, before it became 32 Seconds, was Death by Chocolate.
6) Julie Jones loves In&Out burgers, and strawberry milkshakes.
7) Julie is also a surfer. Her favorite beach is the one in Oceanside, CA.
8) I'm a cat lover. I have four cats, and they all distract me from writing by taking turns and lying on top of my laptop.
About the Author:
Johanna K. Pitcairn has dreamed of becoming a writer since childhood--authoring her first novel at the age of nine, and countless poems, stories, and screenplays by the age of seventeen. Later, rather than pursuing a career as a director and screenwriter, she decided to go to law school, driven by her father's opinion that "writing does not pay the bills."

My insides are boiling from my adrenaline-filled rage. I never suspected Jake really felt the way he does. Stabbing myself in the eye would feel ten times better than the pain of his words. I couldn’t believe he said that, yet I could. Jake has always been an asshole; however, this takes the cake. The moment he spoke his true inner feelings, all I saw was red. He doesn’t consider me his brother, only a stray Reggie saved. Reggie moves to my side and puts his hand on my forearm, squeezing hard enough for me to take notice. I glance up to his face, and it’s painfully obvious he was also hurt by Jake’s words. Reggie is probably internalizing it and blaming himself for this moment, but I think it’s good everything is out in the open. Jake is always quite candid when he’s drinking; I’m just surprised it took so long for the words to fall out of his mouth. However, I’m glad his true feelings are out. Now we can really move on from this night, and the night will be known as the one the Evans brothers became no more. Reggie clears his throat, as if he’s trying to swallow down the fury that’s settled inside his body. “Jake,” he says in a quiet, deep tone, “I think it’s time to leave.” “You’re kicking me out?” Jake is baffled. He tucks his flask back into his pocket before approaching Reggie. “Fine, I will leave. I always knew you were a pussy. You could never stand up to her… or him, for that matter.” Jake shoulders past Reggie, snags Delilah’s arm, and walks from the garage, shouting to her to get the kids as he moves to his car and sits in the passenger seat. I stand at the threshold of the door and look at my brother. I’m really not mad anymore. I feel sorry for him. He’s defaulting to truly harmful words to make the rest of us feel as bad as he does. In fact, he’s acting like a child. Jake’s always been dramatic, so I guess I should have expected nothing less. Yet what he said is unforgettable. I’m not sure how forgiving I can be after hearing what he said. The hateful words will always be in the back of my mind. Zoe and Delilah file down the back steps with all the kids in tow. Delilah quickly ushers them to the car and straps them in as Jake continues to stare me down, taking small sips from his flask. He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s about to lose everything he has unless he has a come-to-Jesus meeting with himself and changes how he treats Delilah. If she were smart, she wouldn’t stick around for the aftermath of this night. Jake is bound to be intolerable. Delilah falls into the driver’s seat and backs away from the house as we all stand in the driveway, watching them drive off.
