Review The Spirit by D. Nichole King

Carrie Reese doesn’t believe in ghosts—until she falls in love with one.

From the moment he walks through the door, a cool breeze surrounds Carrie. She knows Lucas is too good to be true...and he is. Because he’s dead.

Devastated over her parents’ divorce, 17 year-old Carrie is spending the summer with her grandparents in Villisca—the creepiest town in Iowa. Even though it makes her skin crawl, Carrie doesn’t regard the haunting of the infamous Moore House to be anything more than superstition.

Lucas, however, knows exactly why the mysterious farmhouse should be avoided. But that’s not what brings him to town. As a ghost, he cannot cross over into the afterlife until he finds his soul, and there’s someone in Villisca who can help. Instead, he finds Carrie. And there’s something about her that draws him in. Why didn’t he find her sooner? Like, when he was alive?

When the force of their love disrupts the containment spell around the Moore House, the rift to Hell inside the attic opens, releasing the demons. Since love isn’t meant to be shared between the living and the dead, the demons target the lovers, intent on dragging them to where their souls will face eternal destruction.

Sometimes there’s more at risk than merely dying.

My opinion:

Fantasy it was my fist love. So, every time, when I read fantasy, I remember why I love to read. It world is so perfect, because the limits are not that strong. We can escape in that world that brings to your mind perfect creatures.

The Spirit reminds me of that perfect world of fantasy. This book is about a girl named Carrie, who is send to there grandparents. Her mama and her father are divorce, so she is kinda feel left out and abandoned by them.

Carrie is a strong character. To be send away for the summer, away from your friends that are there for you when you have a difficult time, to be away from the place that you grown up. But still, she manage to be strong and built a small life in Villisca. She doesn’t know a thing about the people in this town and more, she doesn’t know about the history of it. This town has a secret and soon she will find out. I love Carrie (more because she reminds me of Stephan’s King Carrie) because I find my self in her. She has a beautiful and astrong power to be selfish and brave, kind in the same time.

So everything’s change when she meets Lucas. That perfect guy with those beautiful green eyes. How can you not fall for him? Sure I did. :) That kind boy who falls so hard for her, that he will gave his life to make her happy. Well… Life it is kinda wrong to say. Why that? It is kinda dead. Ya, not anything it is so perfect.

Even, during reading the book, I knew where the action will stand, and how it will be, I still love it. It is very well written, the action goes so smooth, not to fast not to slow, which is the perfect combination. You will see lots of things that are similarly with other fantasy story, it in is perfect way it’s also unique.

So if you like creepy – fantasy – romance – ghost, this is you book. Truest me, you will devoured her.
